Stitch in your address, important landmarks or historic sites, French Quarter, major streets, parade routes, The River, bayou St. John, music venues, restaurants - places that are important to you. In this class you will receive a kit (New Orleans Street map pattern on tear-a-way stabilizer) and instructions to complete your hand and/or machine-stitched New Orleans street map quilt throw, approx 44" x 72" (or larger if you include borders). We will have embellishments that you may add to your quilt such as sequins for special landmarks. YOU WILL NEED*: 4 yards cotton fabric (2 yards for top - a solid light color such as light blue, light moss green, gray, lavender, yellow, muslin, natural or white); 2 yards for backing (this can be a coordinating solid or print) Throw-size or single size quilt batting, approx. 44" x 72" DMC # 8 embroidery thread (your choice of colors) or 6-strand floss, and embroidery needle You will get a good start on your quilt, and be able to complete it at home. If you need to return to use one of our machines to complete and bind your quilt you are welcome to do so. Most of this quilt works best in hand-stitching (running stitch). You may embellish with embroidery, ribbons, beads, fancy stitches, applique, etc. to make your quilt truly one of a kind! * You may purchase fabrics, batting and embroidery threads and supplies in our shop at a 15% class discount.
